The quality of one’s worldbuilding should not be judged by expansiveness or depth, but how well the author incorporates their fetish into this world without suspicion.
You must understand, the valley of the eight-foot-tall muscular orc women who forcibly breastfeed all human men they catch in their territory is INTEGRAL to my fictional world, my totally-not-a-self-insert protagonist MUST venture through it and get caught for CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT reasons, and I'm afraid I CANNOT change it.
Dude, one time I read this weird book about dragons, which I picked up because the title had stuff about dragons on it and the summary involved dragons, and then the dragon ditched the protagonist three chapters in, and she spent the rest of the book being abused until she gets to university, where it is then revealed that the entire magic system of this world is powered by sex and the reason she was failing her classes at magic school was because she was studying instead of fucking random dudes like her roommate was. I then put the book down forever.
I was 12. I picked up a book about dragons. I wanted to read about dragons. I'm still a bit traumatized.
It's hard for a new author to get their foot in the door so I respect someone who is willing to dig their heels in and refuse to let the publisher walk all over them even when they're stepping on someone else's toes. And we should celebrate when the new author gets a foothold in the industry and stomp out the competition.
You gotta understand. The totally-not-a-self-insert character dressing up like a femboy and being called a good boy by the dark evil witch lady is INTEGRAL to his character development
The way you wrote your comment was a bit vague, so I'm choosing to believe that it was the dragon who was abused, went to the university and got introduced to sex magic.
Also the part where my totally-not-self-insert character being mind controlled by an androgynous dryad into thinking that he's a pregnant woman and has to choose between continuing on the adventure thus aborting the baby or settling down and raising his kid is very necessary for the plot
"it's thematically important because it represents how the higher classes in the society are sucking the live essence out of the lower class"
ayo that's the will of the many
I like to read werewolf/ wolf shifter books. One time I stumbled across a horse shifter book and I was really excited because I like to see new twists on beloved tropes. Then 10 chapters in the author started graphically describing the mc having s3x in horse form.
Idk if its the autism but most of my best world/character building ideas come from me trying to make sure my non-canon, never-to-be-released personal fap scripts make logistic sense to the universe. One of my main, most important villains came from an offhand script I made when I was down bad.
"The vivd details of her slippery guts squirming against the hero are important for the readers to get a sense of the danger he's facing. It makes it all the more exciting when he finally escapes."
"Yeahh, so about that last part. You wrote that the she-snake 'births the now-naked hero' before once again 'swallowing his vulnerable body whole."
Hideo Kojima is one of the most respected video game developers and he broadcasts the weird shit he likes all the time. If you can make a good time, no one really minds!
this video unironically ruined mist for me. You see, whenever I look outside and it's foggy or misty, Ill say "holy shit mistborn reference!!" but now i cant help but think of footborn and be haunted by this video
Looool basically. "I was born with one extra toe. They say it's supposed to give me even more power than the average podician. I've even heard people say I could be The Chosen Toe. Lots of people say I'm destined to be the Right Foot of the Empress. Just one problem: No matter how many times I get my toes sucked, my powers just won't activate!"
I assure you it is CRUCIAL to the plot that the stronger a magic spell is, the more calories it consumes, leading to all of the strongest mages naturally being overweight so they can have bigger mana reserves. There are definitely no alternate interests for this plot, and I will not accept any changes
"Barely disguised fetish? I was being subtle?"
I was 12. I picked up a book about dragons. I wanted to read about dragons. I'm still a bit traumatized.
STEP 1: YOUR KINK
STEP 2: YOUR POLITICAL POWER FANTASY
STEP 3: ???
STEP 4: PROFIT
“Don’t worry about it”
ayo that's the will of the many
That's one of the best punchlines I've seen XD
Step 2: Your Political Powerfantasy
Step 3: Esoteric Magic System
Step 4: Characters (Optional)
What's the title? Asking for a friend
So the entire series was just more and more increasingly implausible reasons to pee on him, so he can save the day.
"Yeahh, so about that last part. You wrote that the she-snake 'births the now-naked hero' before once again 'swallowing his vulnerable body whole."
"...it's scarier the second time."
